Founder’s Message

about-us

5 years ago in the month of October, I first opened the doors to ‘At My Pace’ with the hope of pursuing my passion of helping children. Since then, I together with an incredible team of dedicated teachers have worked with hundreds of children. I’m truly humbled and proud to witness the progress ‘At My Pace’ has made to become what it is today, over such a short time.

As someone who has had the privilege of working with students for over 16 years, I felt responsible to give children who are looked over and left behind in a typical school setting a chance to receive an individual education that addresses their unique difficulties. The recognition, acceptance and the encouragement we give our children is what motivates them to do their best in a typical school setting.

During these five years we have raised special needs awareness among the society focusing on educators as well as parents with children with special needs.

It has also been a year since we established a centre that is especially dedicated to foster children with special needs who do not attend typical schools.

Seeing my children walk into the centre and enjoy the company and education that they receive is the only thing that I look forward to every single day. They have taken up a significant part of my life and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such beautiful children. I’m also blessed with an educated, loving and caring staff who give their best to the children and the centre. I would not have made it this far if not for them.

I couldn’t be prouder of our teaching staff, administrators, students, and parents—all working together to make our centre one of the best in Colombo. My personal objective is nothing less than to reach as many hearts as possible. I pledge to make every effort possible to ensure that each child we educate is given a platform to grow and prosper as individuals.

The key aspect of working with the kids with challenges is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment. We revolutionize the special needs aspect and shift it to the norm.
